Ukraine boosts coal consumption by almost 10% in 2016
In 2016 Ukraine increased coal consumption by 9.4% compared with 2015, up to 31.3 million tonnes, according to the report.
The ministry says in December 2016, Ukraine used up 3.1 million tonnes of coal, which is 22.3% more than in the same period of 2015.
As UNIAN reported earlier, in 2015, the consumption of thermal coal by Ukraine’s thermal power plants decreased by a third compared to 2014, down to 27 million tonnes.
According to the ministry, Ukraine raised the volume of own production of thermal and coking coal in 2016 by 2.8%, up to 40.864 million tonnes.
